Bluehole Studio – Recruitment drive begins for TERA sequel

Bluehole Studio’s debut title, TERA, is still my personal favourite when it comes to graphics and textures. I have seen developers butchered powerful engines such as CryEngine 3 and Unreal Engine 3, but in this case it did not happen.

Earlier today, the Korean studio posted a recruitment advertisement on its website, seeking programmers to join its new development team, working on a next-generation MMORPG. It was also stated, along with several Korean news outlets, that it will be a full-fledged sequel to TERA.

Do note that no one mentioned “TERA 2”, just simply stating the new title as a sequel to TERA. TERA players should not be really worried, since the game will be at least 5 years away according to AAA development trends.

All TERA has is graphics and combat. The rest of the time it’s a boring linear grind. Seriously, this game is soo boring! I can’t believe they are already planning to do a sequel. I mean it didn’t do THAT great! This is one thing that I dislike about your site cinder. You heavily promote linear-themepark MMOs that only encourage developers to be lazy and create the same thing year after year. I guess it’s a good thing you enjoy this type of game though as there are plenty of them out there to choose from.

You do know that I am the only one sourcing all these news, posting them and maintaining the website? All these are done on top of my 10 to 6 daily job. I can’t possibly cover everything, and this website was started with Asian MMOs at the core.

Your website is awesome. I only discovered it a few months ago, but I’m coming back every day since a lot of the information here seems to be exclusive (at least in English).

I didn’t mean to offend you at all cinder. It’s just something I noticed. I guess I was way off. Also, there is absolutely nothing wrong with enjoying themeparks (I enjoy some), I’m just growing sick of the copy-paste MMOs coming out lately. I do enjoy your site though. keep up the great work!

No offense taken since explanation was given, and thanks for liking the site :)

theme park ride is what people want, instant gratification. they don’t want to wait, for example recent strings of MMO went to f2p. Why? NO INSTANT GRATIFICATION on any front. You want that Plus 12 weapon well.. you gotta RNG it. You want to super rare drop, rng it. its all RNG. so people rather take theme park ride.

well for me grinding is relaxing and when its equiped with top graphics everything else is not so important.
i am happy with the fact that the asian mmos are aviable for western peeps, else i wouldnt play anything at all.
